Lancaster light heavyweight Troy Gallagher was punch perfect in the most impressive performance yet of his pro career.
Gallagher dominated Konstantin Aleksandrov to win a wide decision on Saturday at Blackpool Winter Gardens.
The victory extended 'The Tank's undefeated streak to four wins out of four.
Gallagher, who weighed in at 12st 2lbs, 14 oz and was accompanied by trainer Bob Howard, was in sizzling form as he showed the full repertoire of his boxing skills.
Troy dominated from the off behind his jab, unleashing combinations to head and body. The passive Aleksandrov was in survival mode, barely throwing a punch as he covered up and tried to ward off his younger, sharper opponent.
In Round 2, Troy stepped up his attacks, loading up on his right hand and landing crunching left hooks to the body, all while continuously landing his piercing jab. The Bulgarian looked increasingly uncomfortable and had to use all his experience from 89 pro fights just to stay in there.
The 25-year-old enjoyed another dominant round in the third, pretty much doing as he pleased and even switching southpaw to land clean left crosses down the middle. Aleksandrov was content to stay on the ropes, generally missing on the rare occasions when he tried to lure Gallagher into a sneaky shot. Troy closed the round in style, looking for the stoppage with terrific lefts to the rib cage and uppercuts to the head. But the brave Aleksandrov soaked them up to survive Gallagher's impressive onslaught.
Troy's jab and body work were again the dominant factors in the final round, although he did get caught with a sneaky counter left hook as he tried to open up with left-rights. The punch didn't worry the Lancaster man, though, who continued to walk down Aleksandrov, landing eye-catching shots. It looked like the referee might pull the battered Bulgarian out to give Troy his first inside-distance win, but to his credit, the constantly under-fire Aleksandrov made it to the final bell.
The decision was a formality, Gallagher winning all four rounds clearly.
Afterwards, Troy told VIP Boxing: "I felt good, I think it probably was my best performance to date.
"There are still things I want to improve on.
"But I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the whole event."
