An under par Lancaster City slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Hednesford in the Northern Premier League.
It would be a day to forget for Lancaster City as lacklustre first half display, combined with the ruthlessness of Hednesford attack saw the match in Staffordshire won in the first half.
After a cagey first 10 minutes, Hednesford Town kicked on and Lancaster City were architects of their own downfall. The first chance of many for Hednesford was a header by Omari Sterling-James, who managed to head wide a cross from Chris Hussey. The hosts were ahead two minutes later.
A loose ball from Christian Sloan was picked up by Joel Taylor and his through ball found Montel Gibson and under pressure from Simon Grand and Toby Oliver, his effort found the bottom corner.
Ahkeem Rose had a free header at the back post on 16 minutes which he headed over, but the warning was not enough to prevent a second goal from a similar position.
Good work down the left hand side from Rose and Max Sheaf and the latter's ball to the back post found an unmarked Gibson at the back post to head home his and Hednesford's second.
It was game over on the half hour mark. Tenacious play from the hosts and Liam Kinsella laid off Omari Sterling-James and his 30 yard effort flew into the net and the herculean task of getting back into the game.
The second half brought an improved performance from Lancaster City, albeit with no shots on target as Hednesford were happy with their lead.
A cross from Ed Nolan was headed over from substitute Jim Craig headed over on 58 minutes and in injury time effort from fellow sub Dom Lawson which ended up over the bar were the only offerings on goal and rounded off a disappointing game and performance from Jimmy Marshall's side.
Next up is another away game, this time at Prescot Cables on Saturday (February 28).
