Lancaster City take on Warrington Rylands 1906 hoping for second win in a week

Lancaster City host Warrington Rylands 1906 this Saturday hoping to build on their win in midweek.

The Dolly Blues recorded their first victory in over a month when they beat Morpeth Town 3-2 on Tuesday night, a result which saw them move up two places to 14th in the NPL Premier Division.

Two goals from Dom Lawson and a David Norris winner gave them the three points.

Manager Mark Fell said his side were “fantastic” and will be hoping that the result marks a change in fortune after a difficult last few weeks.

Despite starting the season well – they were second in the league on September 22 – they had struggled in the games leading up to Tuesday’s win, having suffered three consecutive defeats in the NPL Premier Division as well as bowing out of two cup competitions.

Saturday’s opponents are the team who currently occupy second in the league: Warrington Rylands.

‘The Blues’ have taken 28 points from their first 13 games this season – winning eight, drawing four and losing just one, which was a 4-0 home defeat to top of the league Radcliffe on the first day of the season.

This means they are currently on a 12-game unbeaten streak in the league and are yet to lose on the road.

Rylands boss Michael Clegg joined in February this year and his side have only suffered five defeats since then.

Saturday’s game will be a tough one for Lancaster but Fell says his side will give it “a proper good go”.
