Lancaster City host Guiseley this Saturday hoping to continue their strong start to the season on home turf.

The game comes four days after Lancaster stunned Macclesfield, beating them 3-0, with goals from Simon Grand, Jacob Holland-Wilkinson and Jake Connelly.

Dollies’ boss Mark Fell said it was the best his side have performed since he joined the club back in 2018.

In their other home game this season on the opening day against Stafford Rangers, City won 2-0.

In between those two home games, Fell’s side have travelled to Radcliffe and Worksop Town, losing 4-2 and drawing 0-0 respectively.

Lancaster are currently fifth in the table, while Saturday's opponents Guiseley occupy 19th after a surprisingly poor start to the season.

They were expected to be another side fighting it out towards the top of the table in Paul Phillips’ first full season at the helm but they have only picked up three points from a possible nine.

They lost 3-1 at home to Whitby Town on the opening day, before beating Basford United 2-1.

They come into this game off the back of a 4-0 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night (August 22), who were playoff semi-finalists last season.

Only 24 hours after the game, it was announced that Gainsborough had re-signed Guiseley midfielder Bailey Conway, only eight weeks after the player had gone the other way.

Lancaster will be without midfielder Niall Cowperthwaite for this game, who is serving a three-match ban for a red card against Radcliffe.

Looking ahead to the game, Mark Fell told Beyond Radio that his side will “have that swagger about us and we’ll have our tails up” after their midweek showing.

Fell said that David Norris “could be available” for Saturday’s clash after missing the start of the season through injury.

Lancaster City v Guiseley kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (August 26) at The Giant Axe
