Lancaster theatre to host evening with five-time Olympic champ Sir Bradley Wiggins

Five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Bradley Wiggins is coming to Lancaster in September to share stories of his sporting success.

Sir Bradley will be at the Grand Theatre on September 7 to reveal all about his 15 year professional cycling career, as well as what came before.

Wiggins, who has previously lived in Eccleston, Lancashire, has eight Olympic medals to his name – five gold, two silver and one bronze. He held the record for the most decorated British Olympian from 2016 until 2021, when Jason Kenny got his ninth medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

The cycling legend's first Olympic gold came in the 2004 individual pursuit in Athens. He then picked up two golds in Beijing in both the individual and team pursuits.

He got his first and only road racing Olympic medal on home soil at London 2012 when he won the road time trial.

His final gold came in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 in the team pursuit – which he and his team won in record time - meaning he had won golds at four consecutive Olympic Games.

Sir Bradley's 2012 Olympics victory came just one week after he won the Tour de France.

Wiggins also had huge success in several World Championships, winning gold in the individual pursuit in 2003, 2007 and 2008, the team pursuit in 2007 and 2008, the road time trial in 2014 and the Madison – a race in which teams of two or three riders aim to cycle more laps than their opposing teams – in 2008 and 2016.

He has worn the leader’s jersey at all three of cycling’s Grand Tours: the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España.

There are three ticket options for the evening: standard tickets are priced at £30, VIP tickets are priced at £48 and include a photo opportunity with Sir Bradley and seating in the front stalls, and premium tickets are priced at £100 and include an exclusive drinks reception with Sir Bradley, front row seating, a photo opportunity and one signed picture.

An Evening with Sir Bradley Wiggins starts at 8pm.
