Captains at Morecambe Golf Club have handed over more than £17,000 raised over a year to a local charity helping people with neurological conditions.
Tommy Dobson and Maureen Gardner presented Sharon Jackson from Neuro Dropin with a cheque for £17,904 - raised from their year as club captain and ladies' captain respectively.
The presentation was made at the Captain’s Last Dance at the club on February 14.
"Saturday's Captain's Last Dance was an absolute smash from start to finish!" said a post on the Morecambe Golf Club Facebook page.
"The dance floor was full, the atmosphere was electric, and the fabulous Rock it Man band kept everyone on their feet all evening with brilliant music.
"A real highlight of the night was seeing our club captain, Tommy Dobson, and ladies' captain, Maureen Gardner, proudly present a cheque for an incredible £17,904.00 to their chosen charity, Neuro Dropin.
"I think you’ll agree that’s a truly fantastic amount of money that will make a real difference to such a worthy cause.
"A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event on Saturday and an even bigger thank you to all those who have supported throughout the year at the many events our captains have organised.
"Your generosity, enthusiasm and community spirit have made this year so special.
"Here’s to a wonderful year, an unforgettable final dance, and a total we can all be proud of!"
Neuro Dropin, now based at their centre on Hornbeam Road in Lancaster, provides support for anyone affected by a neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, epilepsy, dementia, cerebral palsy, Huntington's disease, ME, MG, MSA and acquired brain injury.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to Tommy and Mo, captain and lady captain at Morecambe Golf Club, for choosing Neuro Dropin as their Charity of the Year for the 2025–2026 season," said a post on the Neuro DropIn Facebook page.
"We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown by the captain, lady captain, members, and everyone involved throughout the year. The effort that has gone into fundraising for Neuro Dropin has made a real and lasting difference.
"This money has already been put to good use. It has enabled us to complete the work at our new home, ensuring we can continue supporting our members and the wider community in a safe, welcoming, and fully equipped space.
"From all of us at Neuro Dropin... thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us continue making a difference."
