Ten-men Morecambe are bottom of the National League table after a heavy 5-0 defeat away at Truro City.
The Shrimps made one change for the long trip to Cornwall, with winger Rolando Aarons coming in for his debut in place of Ben Tollitt.
The hosts fired an early warning shot on 15 minutes, as Dom Johnson-Fisher’s low curling effort from the edge of the area was saved by Archie Mair, before the Morecambe stopper stood tall to deny Will Dean on the rebound.
The Tinners took the lead on 24 minutes, as Will Dean’s chipped cross from the right hand tip of the area was nodded in at the back post by captain Connor Riley-Lowe.
While trying to get a foothold back in the game, the Shrimps were reduced to ten men three minutes before half time, as Arsenal loanee Maldini Kacurri was shown a second yellow card for hauling down Johnson-Fisher on the half way line.
Seven minutes after the interval, the hosts doubled their lead. Morecambe were caught out playing from the back, with Mair’s pass to Songo’o intercepted by Riley-Lowe, who squared the ball to Luke Jephcott for a tap in.
It was 3-0 ten minutes later, as more poor defending in the box lead to Johnson-Fisher riffling the ball home from close range.
Fifteen minutes from time, Jephcott helped himself to his second, stroking the ball into the far corner from a low right wing cross, and should have secured his hat-trick when he hit the bar when well placed from ten yards.
Extra gloss was put on the scoreline deep in stoppage time when substitute Aidan Marsh bagged a fifth with a neat close range flick, to compound the Shrimps’ misery on the road.
