The Shrimps, playing just their third game of the season, made five changes to the team that started in their defeat at Aldershot on Bank Holiday Monday, including handing debuts to four players – defenders Terrell Agyemang and Alie Sesay, midfielder Miguel Azeez and forward Joe Nuttall.

The first action of note came around the 15th minute mark, when Ben Tollitt did well to win a corner, which was floated in by Gwion Edwards and headed just wide of the target by Yann Songo'o.

Paul Lewis saw an effort sail over the bar, before at the other end, Archie Mairin the Morecambe goal stood tall to block a Harry Beautyman effort from close range following a scramble in the box.

Mair kept the scoreline blank again just before half time, denying Jamie Andrews at close range from a header from a right wing cross.

At the other end of the pitch, Archie Mair was called into action as a flurry of chances were thrown his way including a superb save down to his left when Harry Beautyman hit one from close range.

On the stroke of half time, Miguel Azeez played a lovely scooped ball into the path of Lewis but he was judged to be offside.

In the opening stages of the second half, Morecambe thought that they had a penalty. Joe Nuttall capitalised on a defensive error before going down in the box, but the referee deemed there to have been no contact.

Almost immediately, Woking went up the other end of the pitch and scored the opening goal.

The Cardinals found space down the right, a low cross found Aiden O’Brien, who scored it for Andrews to slot home.

Morecambe gave further debuts from the bench to midfielder Mo Sangare and forward Admiral Muskwe, but failed to muster an effort on target, with a Gwion Edwards effort deflected onto the roof of the net the closest the Shrimps came.

The visitors sealed the points with almost the last kick of the game, as they counter attacked following a Morecambe corner, with Sam Ashford finding the net to give Woking their first league win of the season.
