Morecambe well beaten by MK Dons in League One

Morecambe suffered a 4-0 home defeat to MK Dons in League One on Saturday.

Two first-half goals from Will Grigg, and one each in the second period from Conor Grant and Matthew Dennis, condemned the Shrimps to their first home defeat of the season and leaves them second bottom of League One.

Morecambe missed a host of chances during the game, with the Dons' keeper in fine form to make saves from Delaney, Gnahoua and new signing and debutant Kieran Phillips, and manager Derek Adams said they needed to be more clinical.

"In the second-half we got into the game and created a lot of good opportunities," said the Shrimps boss.

"I think they were very clinical and we weren't so good in front of goal.

"We had a lot of very good chances in the game and probably should have scored a few goals."

Morecambe were missing regular first-teamers due to illness or injury including Jon Obika, Ash Hunter and Max Melbourne.

Shrimps striker Cole Stockton was once again missing from the squad as speculation continues about his future at the club.

When asked if he thought we may have seen the last of Stockton in a Morecambe shirt, Adams said: "No I don't think so. I think he'll still be here come the end of the (transfer) window."
