Two local hockey clubs have merged to create a new Lancaster & District Hockey Club.
The merger between Lancaster Hockey Club and Lancaster and Morecambe Hocket Club was announced as "a move set to secure the future of hockey in the region".
A statement from the new club said it "aims to address the recent decline in local hockey participation and ensure continued access to the sport for players across all age groups".
They said the "merger brings together decades of local hockey heritage, combining resources, expertise, and a shared passion for the game.
"The newly formed club will provide a stronger, more sustainable platform for growth and development, ensuring that hockey thrives for generations to come in the Lancaster and Morecambe area."
Karen Chapmanm chair at Lancaster & District Hockey Club, said: "This is a really important development for hockey in our community.
"By uniting as Lancaster & District Hockey Club, we are future-proofing the sport we love.
"We'll be able to offer a more robust pathway for players from the first time picking up a stick through to senior competition.
"Our primary goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to play and enjoy hockey in our local area."
Lancaster & District Hockey Club offers a comprehensive programme for all ages and skill levels.
Their thriving junior section provides dedicated training and competitive opportunities for various age groups.
For adults, they have a senior men's team and four women's teams competing across the North West Hockey Leagues, catering to highly competitive league hockey as well as more social and developmental play.
They also have a Vets team.
Open training sessions for both ladies and men’s senior teams will commence on Tuesday, August 5, 7-9pm at Lancaster University.
Following these initial sessions, training will be split into squad-specific sessions.
