Report, highlights & reaction: Morecambe 1-0 Crawley Town

A second-half goal from Jordan Slew saw the Shrimps move to within goal difference of the play offs in League Two.

After an even start to the game, both sides had good chances to open the scoring in quick succession.

A Morecambe attack ended with Ged Garner’s effort well saved, before a break from the visitors saw Ronan Darcy’s drive come back out off the inside of Archie Mair’s post.

Corey Addai was called into action on several more occasions, before a fine reflex stop by Mair from a header following a corner kept the scoreline blank right on the stroke of half time.

The visitors made the brighter start to the second half, the dangerous looking Lolos forcing a last-ditch block from Farrend Rawson, before Town top scorer Dan Orsi somehow fired over the bar from close range.

It would be Morecambe who took the lead 21 minutes from time.

Joe Adams won possession in midfield and swept the ball out to Joel Senior on the right. His low cross wasn’t cleared, and there was substitute Jordan Slew to fire home for his seventh goal of the season in front of the jubilant home crowd.

Scott Lindsay’s men continued to probe a resolute Morecambe defence but failed to capitalise on the few chances they created.

After seven minutes of additional time, it would be Ged Brannan’s men who ran out winners, to sit just outside the top seven.
