Report, highlights and reaction: Morecambe 1-3 MK Dons

Morecambe suffered a disappointing defeat to MK Dons at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium in League Two.

There’s highlights, reaction and more in the latest episode of The Shrimps Verdict, out now wherever you get your podcasts.

The visitors were ahead in just the second minute after Morecambe keeper Stuart Moore brought down Alex Gilby and Joe Tomlinson made no mistake from the spot.

Moments later, Adam Lewis forced Tom McGill into a good save low to his left, but it was MK who doubled their lead midway through the half.

Scott Hogan was played in, and despite seeing his first shot saved, managed to slot home the rebound.

Joe Walsh and Alex Gilbey were then both denied by Moore as MK started to dominate proceedings, before the Shrimps pulled one back on the stroke of half time.

Ben Tollitt did well to find space on the left byline, and his teasing cross was nodded in at the back post by Jamie Stott, to half the deficit and score his first goal for the club.

Then, Lewis almost levelled seconds later with a goal bound shot that cleared off the line right on the half time whistle.

However just five minutes after the restart MK restored their two goal cushion.

Possession was given away cheaply in midfield, and Liam Kelly’s effort was deflected up and over Moore and in off the underside of the crossbar.

Morecambe tried to hit back saw a Rhys Williams header fly narrowly over, while Ben Tollitt’s 25 yard low drive was inches wide.

The Shrimps are bottom of the League Two table ahead of a trip to AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening.
