Shrimps aiming for back-to-back League One victories ahead of U’s test

Morecambe are aiming for back-to-back victories in League One for the first time this season, as Cambridge United visit the Mazuma Stadium.

The Shrimps secured their first league win of the season last weekend thanks to a 2-1 win at Forest Green Rovers, and backed that result up with a penalty shoot-out victory against Hartlepool United in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night.

There’s full commentary of the game on Beyond Radio’s FM and DAB+ services tomorrow (Saturday) from 2:45pm.

Mark Bonner's men are currently ninth in Sky Bet League One with four wins, four defeats and one draw after nine games.

Manager Derek Adams says the Shrimps are keen to get their first league win at home, who currently sit 23rd in the table, with seven points from nine games, and could climb out of the relegation zone with victory.

“We’ve won two away from home this season in the League Cup and in the league against Forest Green,” he said.

“To get a home victory would be nice and we’re probably due it with the performances we’ve had.

“We have been unfortunate not to get all three points at home so far.”
