John Parrott MBE

Snooker legend John Parrott will be a special guest as the biggest one-day crown green bowling competition in the country returns to Lancaster.

The Carlsberg Marston Invitation, with £4300 prize money, will be held at Skerton Liberal Club this Saturday (August 3).

Parrott, former world snooker champion and TV pundit, was an accomplished crown green bowler as a junior.

It's the 17th year the event has been held at the club.

Bowlers will compete for the prestigious Roy Armson Trophy.

Lynn Pritchatt, who founded the event's nominated charity The Mel Evans MBE Foundation, will also attend.

There will be a raffle, and auction bids are also being taken for a snooker cue signed by John Parrott on the day.

Bowling starts on the day at the Lune Street club at 10am.

Admission is by full colour programme at £1.50. All entry monies and raffles will go in full to MNDA (the Motor Neurone Disease Association), The Mel Evans Foundation and The Rob Burrow Foundation.
