Striker Cole Stockton has signed a deal with League One Burton Albion, after leaving Morecambe earlier in the summer.

The forward was one of fourteen players to leave the Mazuma Stadium upon the expiration of their contracts at the end of the season, which saw Morecambe relegated to League Two.

Stockton has agreed a two-year deal with the Brewers and will officially make the move on July 1.

Stockton, who is 29 years old, said: “I have been speaking to the manager on and off on the phone and just wanted to get it sorted as I'm excited by the challenge.

"I know about Burton, what kind of club they are and what the fans expect. I know what the club means to the local people and the fans that follow you home and away.

"I want to get going now; get through pre-season fit and strong and be prepared for the first game of the season."

Stockton leaves Morecambe as the club’s second all-time goalscorer since the Shrimps became a Football League Club in 2007, finding the net 71 times in 211 appearances in all competitions, including being top scorer, with 26 and 13 goals respectively, in both of Morecambe’s League One campaigns.

He was also part of Morecambe’s promotion winning squad in 2021.
