An afternoon to forget at Boreham Wood saw Morecambe fall to a 3-0 defeat in the National League.
The Shrimps started the game in Hertfordshire with the same starting line up as in the defeat to Forest Green Rovers in midweek, but fell behind in just eight minutes, as a low cross from the left was smashed home by Lewis Richardson on his full debut for the hosts.
The visitors lost captain Yann Songo’o and winger Gwion Edwards to injury as the half wore on, as the Shrimps found themselves two down in the 33rd minute.
Matt Rush found space on the edge of the area, and he curled an effort past Archie Mair and into the bottom corner.
It went from bad to worse for the Shrimps before half time, as substitute Terrell Agyemang was sent off in first half stoppage time after receiving a second caution.
The ten men of Morecambe struggled to get a foothold in the game in the second half, aside from a Ben Williams volley that was blocked at point blank range by home goalkeeper Finlay Herrick.
Midway through the half, the host wrapped up a comfortable afternoon with a second for Rush, who tapped in following a neat free kick routine on the edge of the Morecambe penalty area.
Morecambe travel to Solihull Moors in the National League next Saturday, September 13.
