Morecambe defender Connor Pye has joined Sky Bet Championship side Sunderland AFC for an undisclosed fee.
Pye joined the Shrimps academy at U16 level from Wigan Athletic. After linking up with the academy, the youngster hit the ground running and was awarded Player of the Season for the U17s.
He was handed his first-team debut in the Papa John’s Trophy against Hartlepool United, which ended 2-2 at Victoria Park at the start of last season.
Pye eventually went on to sign a professional deal with the Shrimps in January 2022, but didn’t feature in League One under either Stephen Robinson or Derek Adams.
