A Beyond Radio presenter has had her latest work published in a new book of science fiction stories.
Beth Pipe's short story features in an anthology called ‘The Sands of Time’, collated by celebrated fantasy author, Jodi Taylor.
‘Same Ship, Different Day’ is about a health & safety training course on a starship that doesn't quite go according to plan.

Beth said: ‘’I've never written sci-fi before but I've watched a lot of Star Trek!
‘’Jodi Taylor is one of my favourite authors, and she ran a competition to write a short science fiction story, so I decided to have a crack at it.
‘’My story was one of the few selected out of several hundred submissions, with 32 in the book in total, and I'm pretty chuffed.’’
All proceeds from the book go to Scope – a charity that campaigns to transform attitudes towards disability, tackle injustice, and inspire action.
Beth hosts the regular Saturday afternoon show on Beyond Radio, 'Beth Across the Bay'.
She is an accomplished published writer too – with recent works that include 'Brewers Loop', a Lake District beer guide, and 'The Rivers of Cumbria', a fascinating exploration of 10 Cumbrian rivers and their heritage, both written with her husband Steve.
In addition to being a Beyond Radio presenter and writing, Beth has carved out a career as a professional skills trainer and it was that, together with her self-confessed sci-fi nerdiness that led to this particular story.
