Beyond Radio will host a special live programme to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Eric Morecambe.
We will be live from the Kings Arms, opposite the Eric Morecambe Statue, from 10am to 3pm on Thursday May 14 - the date of the legendary comedian's centenary.
Special guests will be joining us to celebrate Eric's 100th birthday in a five-hour programme presented by Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert.
The broadcast will also air live on Central Radio North West across Lancashire.
A programme of events is taking place in the town that week to mark the occasion, and honour the memory of the Morecambe and Wise star.
Key events include two performances of West End theatrical hit An Evening of Eric & Ern at Morecambe’s Winter Gardens (Saturday May 16 and Sunday May 17 - the Saturday night show is sold out), a discussion with Gary and Gail Morecambe about their father’s legacy (May 16 at the Winter Gardens), Morecambe Heritage’s Follow the Sunshine exhibition (opening May 12 in the Arndale shopping centre), and an Eric Morecambe-themed walking trail (May 14 to 16).
Eric Morecambe, renowned for his TV comic partnership with Ernie Wise, was born John Eric Bartholomew on Buxton Street in the town on May 14 1926, and lived on Christie Avenue as a boy.
