Beyond Radio's Duncan Moore becomes Freeman of Lancaster

Beyond Radio's very own Duncan Moore is among those to have been admitted to the rolls as Freemen and Freewomen of Lancaster.

Duncan - alongside other people from the Lancaster District - was bestowed with the honour during a ceremony at Lancaster Town Hall on Saturday.

Traditionally the honour carried a number of privileges including the right to ‘pasture a limited number of beasts’ on the Marsh, to enter the city free from the payment of tolls, and to bring goods through toll gates for sale at the Lancaster Market.

Nowadays the role carries few rights, but remains popular amongst those who are proud of their heritage.

Duncan is Head of Community Programming and Personnel at Beyond Radio, as well as our former managing director and a founder member of the radio station.

Beyond Radio presenter Paul Fisher became a Freeman of Lancaster in 2024.

The full list of Freemen and Freewomen of Lancaster in 2025 are:

Liam Birkett, Alexander Stuart Gibson, Christopher Michael Gibson, Daniel Owen Greene, Edwina Greenfield, William James Holland, Darren Hunt, Arthur Samuel Jones, Edwina Jones, Andrew Martin Kay, Thomas Layfield, Christine Pearcy, Tony Pearcy, Duncan Leslie Moore, Jamie Luke Mason-Milward, Kimberley Maria Mason-Milward, Gillian Mawby, Peter Mawby, Andrew Ian Robertson, Mark Sarjent, Amy Louise Stanning, Tim John Tomlinson, Graham Michael White, Michael Joseph White, Ben Wilkinson and Paul Michael Wilkinson.
