A social media manager from Lancaster has won a national award for Marketing Business Woman of the Year.
Lucy Kaulbarsch from Lucy Digital triumphed in the category at the UK Women in Business awards celebrating women who are building credible, resilient businesses across the UK.
She was also named as a finalist in the Young Businesswoman of the Year.
Lucy was born in Lancaster, went to St Luke's Slyne with Hest Primary and Our Lady’s Catholic College high school and then Lancaster University where she did a marketing degree.
She started her business in 2020 when COVID hit, beginning by posting free marketing tips on Instagram and making advertising graphics, at first just for fun and for friends.
The company, based in Morecambe, offers social media management, content creation (photography and videography), graphic design, and websites.
"Lucy Digital started as me giving out free Instagram advice after finishing my marketing degree at Lancaster University Management School," said Lucy.
"I never imagined we’d be here.
"Fast forward a few years and I’ve now worked with businesses across the UK and internationally, supporting them across multiple marketing touchpoints, with social media at the heart of it all.
"To now be recognised nationally as Marketing Businesswoman of the Year, and also named a finalist as Young Businesswoman of the Year, feels surreal.

"As a woman in business, it can be difficult to be taken seriously. Imposter syndrome takes over A LOT of the time. Pricing can feel uncomfortable. Walking into a room and owning your expertise doesn’t always come naturally, even when you know your craft inside out.
"If I could give any advice off the back of this, it would be this: get very, very good at what you do and don’t get distracted by what everyone else is doing.
"I’m not the best at my own social media. I’m very good at delivering it for other people. My priority has always been the results I create for my clients, not how often I show up for myself. I’m working on that, because it does matter, but imposter syndrome is very real for me, even now.
"The point is, you don’t have to look like everyone else or copy what’s trending. You don’t have to build your business the way someone else has. You are your unique selling point. That’s what I believe has grown Lucy Digital into what it is today, and we’re only just getting started.
"A huge congratulations to all the other winners and finalists in the 2026 Women in Business Awards. It’s an honour to be recognised alongside so many incredible women.
"And thank you to every single client, supporter, referral, like, comment, share, recommendation and message. Lucy Digital exists because people trust me with their brands, and that will never be taken lightly."
The 2026 Women in Business Awards showcase achievement across consultancy, healthcare, technology, property, finance, sustainability, recruitment, hospitality, travel, and community enterprise.
Lucy Digital was also a finalist in the Best Digital Marketing Business category at the 2025 UK Small Business Awards.
