'Love Lancaster Live' music festival set to be "monster of an event"

The Craic Inn will be part of Love Lancaster Live.

An organiser of the upcoming 'Love Lancaster Live' music festival says it is shaping up to be a huge event for the city.

Tony Johnson, manager at Lancaster BID, was speaking on Beyond Radio ahead of the festival - which takes place in more than 50 venues across the city from October 9-12.

Love Lancaster Live will be run by the BID (Business Improvement District) as a stand-in for Lancaster Music Festival, which is taking a break this year.

But Mr Johnson said he hoped music fans wouldn't see too much difference between this year's event and the regular festival, which traditionally attracts thousands into the city.

"The guys at Lancaster Music Festival were really pleased that it was us taking it on and I was always very respectful of their event, and (wanted to) mirror everything they do," said Mr Johnson.

"What would be the point of changing anything because we all know what a fantastic event it is for the local public and visitors to the area.

"And it's so big for our businesses. The hospitality sector are really looking forward to it.

"There are one or two things that are new to us, one or two things that we're not doing that Lancaster Music Festival do, but on the whole, people shouldn't really see any difference whatsover.

"Thursday 9th is quite low key, but it always is. But then it does totally ramp up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a really busy schedule.''

A full line-up of musical artists has been announced, which can be found HERE.

Beyond Radio will  host a 'Locals Live' stage on Sunday October 12 from the Market Square plinth, from 11am to 5pm.

Other highlights will include a performance area in Dalton Square, a silent disco in St Nicholas Arcades shopping centre, 'Busk Stops' of acoustic acts popping up in unusual locations around the city, and a two-day event hosted by the BBC showcasing up-and-coming bands at The Storey on October 11 and 12.
