Martin Thomas has returned to Morecambe Football Club as Head of Commercial.
Martin, who is well known to the Shrimps’ fanbase having previously served in the role for six years from 2019 until last September, returns following a short period at AFC Fylde.
Martin will once again be responsible for managing relationships with the local business community and the club’s sponsors with a view to driving commercial growth at the club.
Martin, who has started back at the club this week, said: “It’s great to be back at a club that holds a special place close to my heart."
“It will be amazing to be able to re-associate myself with some of the great businesses in and around the Morecambe and Lancaster areas, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to promote their services to the club’s many supporters and followers.”
CEO, Ropinder Singh, added: “I am very pleased to welcome Martin back to the club.
‘’His knowledge of existing commercial partners and the local business scene will be important to us as we seek to refocus our commercial offerings at the club and drive commercial growth once again.
‘’Martin will play a key role in this, and I am looking forward to working with him.”
During his first spell, Martin played a key role in developing the relationship between the club and Beyond Radio, including in the deal that led to the station’s flagship commentary of every game, Shrimps Live, which has seen Beyond Radio as the club’s partner since 2021.
Martin’s other notable achievements during his tenure include securing a long term naming rights deal when the then Globe Arena became the Mazuma Stadium in 2020, and Tyson Fury’s ‘Gypsy King’ brand sponsorship of both the men’s first team and Morecambe FC Women in 2022.
