The captain of Lancaster Cricket Club has celebrated making his international debut.
Ben Simm was selected for the England Lions Over 40s side that played against a UK Armed Forces XI at Richmond Cricket Club in North Yorkshire.
Ben made an instant impact too – taking 2-39 with the ball on debut, as the game went down to the last over, with UKAF winning by three wickets with five balls to spare.
A spokesperson for Lancaster CC said: ‘’It’s a fantastic achievement and one that is thoroughly deserved.
‘’Ben has been a driving force for Lancaster Cricket Club for a number of years. His commitment, professionalism and passion for the game have set the standard both on and off the field, and this latest milestone is recognition of the hard work and consistency he has shown over many seasons.''

‘’Everyone at Lancaster Cricket Club is incredibly proud to see one of our own representing England. It’s an achievement that inspires our junior players and shows what dedication to the game can lead to.
‘’Congratulations, Ben – we couldn’t be prouder, and we wish you every success for the rest of the season.’’
The Lions go again on Wednesday (July 15) with a match against the Forty Club at Norley Hall Cricket Club, Wigan.
