Here is the latest report of results from Lancaster Cricket Club.
The 1st XI produced a dominant performance at home against Mawdesley CC on June 20, securing a seven-wicket victory to take maximum points.
Mawdesley were restricted to just 85, with Ben Simm delivering a superb spell to claim six wickets and Kieron Moffat adding three wickets as the visitors were dismantled for 85 in 42.3 overs.
In reply, Lancaster made steady progress in the chase, with Dan Woods anchoring the innings superbly, finishing unbeaten on 43 as the home side reached 86-3 to wrap up a comfortable win.
The 2nd XI were involved in a tight contest away at South Shore CC. After bowling the hosts out for 176, Lancaster produced a strong bowling display with Danny Rae, Luke Murray and Henry Patrick all taking three wickets apiece, with Patrick also contributing two catches. In reply, Lancaster battled hard with the bat. Danny Rae led the scoring with 42, Robbie Skelton 30 and Miles Walker 25, but the side ultimately fell just short, finishing on 163 and losing by 13 runs.
On June 21, the women’s team produced an excellent all-round performance to beat Torrisholme CC.
After a disciplined display in the field to restrict the opposition to 123, Lancaster’s bowlers and fielders stood out, with captain Georgia Simm taking 2 wickets including two caught-and-bowled dismissals, while Jess Pennington took two wickets. In the chase, Ava top-scored with 14 and Katie added 11 as the pair shared a key partnership of 25, helping Lancaster reach their target and secure a well-earned victory.
A strong weekend overall for Lancaster CC, with two wins from three and plenty of positive individual and team performances across all sides.
