John McGuinness earns podium finish as Classic TTs celebrate his iconic 30-year career

Motorcycle legend John McGuinness MBE has returned to the podium in the Isle of Man with a third-place finish in the Historic Junior Classic TT.

The 23-time winner around the island's TT course finished third behind Paul Jordan and Dominic Herbertson in Saturday's race during the Classic TT meeting.

It was a fantastic result for 54-year-old Morecambe man, whose storied 30-year career at the TTs is being celebrated at this year's Classic event.

His three decades of racing on the Mountain Course are being celebrated in a pop-up exhibition of memorabilia from his career, including the motorcycles he rode, along with the leathers and helmets he wore.

Exhibits include the bike he made his debut at the TT in the Lightweight 250 race on, where he finished in 15th position on the Honda RS250.

The exhibition is open in the Mercury Club at the Grandstand in Douglas from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 8pm, and on Friday from 10am to 6pm.

John will also be celebrated in the event-closing John McGuinness MBE Parade Lap, as 12 bikes which tell his story take to the course.

McGuinness himself will take part in the parade, flanked by some of his closest friends and fiercest rivals in a true show of respect for the legendary rider.

Earlier this year, 'McPint' celebrated his first start at his 30th anniversary TT races with a fifth place finish in the RST Superbike.

McGuinness clocked a lap of 131.185mph, coming close to his fastest ever lap around the course.
