Muhammed Hurraira and Tomas King both hit fifties as Morecambe were outclassed by Division Two leaders Fleetwood.

Fleetwood won the toss and elected to bat first as the visitors to Woodhill Lane.

Andy Drake and Jeremy Davies opened proceedings putting on 40 off 10 overs.

Lloyd Smith got the breakthrough an over later dismissing Davies (21) caught by Benjy Orr.

A bowling change proved the difference in taking the second wicket as it took Regan Jackson three balls to dismiss Drake (23).

Hurraira and Harry McAleer got the score above 100 but the latter was clean bowled by Jackson an over before drinks.

King joined his team mate in the middle and the Pakistani professional went to yet another 50 bashing 17 off Jackson’s over, but Siddarth Ahhuja won the battle of the overseas as Hurraira was out for 57.

Stefan Dixon was introduced back into the attack after an expensive first spell and got Morecambe their first bowling point as Woody Wilson was caught by Luke Pearson for 4.

Morecambe back in the contest at 143-5, but King and Declan Clerkin put together a well worked partnership of 76, with the former going to fifty in less than a run a ball to get Fleetwood a platform going into the final five overs.

From 214-5 a frantic end saw the last five wickets fall for 35 runs, with Dixon finishing with four wickets and a run out. James Amor smashed two sixes in a cameo seven ball innings of 17 to set Morecambe 250 for victory.

A disastrous start to the chase saw Morecambe staring down the barrel of defeat at 24-4. Lightning hands from wicketkeeper McAleer saw two stumpings off the bowling of Nathan Bend.

Amor bowled Ahhuja for six and despite three boundaries in 10 balls from Alex Briggs, he fell victim to Amor to leave the hosts at 38-5.

Orr and Pearson recovered the innings with a partnership of 77, but it concluded in unfortunate fashion after the drinks break as Orr was run out for 41.

His captain was the only other batsman to go past 20, making his second fifty of the season but the task of chasing 250 was too much. Two wickets in two overs including Pearson for 53 saw any chance of winning vanish.

Michael Bland and Jackson’s 23 run partnership saw Morecambe to a batting point but when Bland (18) was stumped off the bowling of Matthew Siddall, it rounded off a well deserved victory by 63 runs to keep their lead at the top of the table to 30 points.

Regan Jackson (6-23) struck perfection with career best figures including a hat trick as Morecambe beat Barrow by 118 runs.

Having lost the toss and being inserted to bat first, Andrew Creech and Joseph Bradshaw put together a well worked partnership of 74 after the early loss of Lewis Smith.

Declan Tyson introduced into the bowling attack broke the partnership, as Creech was trapped LBW by the spinner five short of his half century.

Bradshaw (29) was next to fall three overs later, Hardus Coetzer getting the better of the Morecambe number three.

A watchful start to the partnership by Siddarth Ahhuja and Alex Briggs turned into attack, 32 runs coming off three overs after the drinks break to take Morecambe to 135-3 with 20 overs remaining.

Barrow struck back with the wickets of Briggs (33) and Pearson in quick succession, but Ahhuja went to 50 with a four off the bowling of South African professional, Coetzer.

Nine overs remaining and Morecambe were set up nicely with the score past 200 and wickets remaining but once the Indian overseas was caught on 62 it caused the last five wickets to fall for just 20 runs. Morecambe all out for 229. Tyson (4-49) the pick of the bowlers.

Early pressure was forced onto the Barrow batters, Lloyd Smith and Michael Bland kept it tight which included the wicket of Tyson for one by Smith.

49-1 off 15 overs, Ahhuja was brought on and Drew Posthlethwaite muscled the spinners first ball over the leg side boundary for six. But four overs later he got the wicket of the Barrow opener for 44, Benjy Orr taking the catch behind the stumps.

Barrow then slumped in a miraculous collapse to 87-7. Ahhuja with two more wickets, bowling Coetzer and a questionable shot by Oliver Whalley left an easy stumping for Orr. Regan Jackson joined in on the action with three wickets all bowled to put the visitors on top.

A 24 run partnership between by Jack Singleton and Daryl Wearing took the score past 100 but three superb deliveries by Jackson left Wearing, Sam Henderson and Ben Carr all bamboozled leading to celebrations and a hat trick for the seamer.

A convincing victory by 118 runs as Barrow were all out for 111, the win takes Morecambe fourth, nine points clear of the home side.

MORECAMBE VS EUXTON

A missed opportunity in the 40 Over Cup Quarter Final, as Morecambe lost by 14 runs in a rain affected, high scoring encounter versus Euxton.

Regan Jackson stole the show versus Barrow and was in the wickets right away with another dismissal bowled, this time opener Josh Tolley out for two.

Jack Shovelton and Nishan Peiris didn't let the early inroad faze them. The former playing the more attacking innings scoring 78 off 58 balls including nine fours and five maximums before it was one shot too many, Michael Bland dismissing the opener caught by Jackson.

The partnership of 125 came in just 16 overs as Euxton looked set to post a score of over 250.

Bland and Lewis Smith dragged the run rate back only conceding eight boundaries in 14 overs. Then a change in bowling brought the wicket of Ben Houghton for 27 as Siddarth Ahhuja got his first of the day.

Peiris made Morecambe pay for two drop catches top scoring with 79 but was caught by Andrew Creech despite calls for a no ball for height.

A sloppy final three overs by the home side led to 39 runs being conceded from the final 18 balls. Euxton posting 267 for victory. James Bone finishing 44 not out.

A rain delay promoted Joseph Bradshaw to the top of the order and the target readjusted to 234 required from 32 overs for a semifinal spot.

A proactive start by Lewis Smith and Bradshaw in the power play got the score to 50. But with the field changes relaxed saw the back of Smith for 24.

Ahhuja and Bradshaw then did what the second wicket partnership did for Euxton. Bashing boundaries all over the ground, the Indian batter racing to a magnificent fifty but a fine innings came to an end in unfortunate fashion on 64 as Tolley took a good catch at short fine leg.

Creech and Bradshaw battled back, the latter going to his maiden fifty for the club and then went into second gear with a maximum and a four.

Spin duo of Bone and Peiris had Euxton back in the contest seeing the back of Creech and Taylor Backhouse.

Wickets started to tumble with the asking rate increasing. 25 off 12 balls with three wickets left it, was all on Bradshaw still at the crease on 78.

Bone bowled well in the penultimate over going for just three and a wicket. 22 off the final over to be bowled by Josh Boyden. Two singles followed by a swing and a miss by Bradshaw (81) leaving the ball to crash into the stumps.

A valiant attempt by the hosts but Euxton fought back excellently from144-1 to progress to face Chorley in the semifinals.
