Morecambe Football Club chief gives staffing update after new arrivals at club

Steve Dewsnip, Chief Operating Officer, Morecambe FC

The Chief Operating Officer of Morecambe FC has updated fans on staffing changes after a series of new appointments at the club.

Steve Dewsnip, writing in the club programme ahead of Morecambe's 1-0 win over Darlington on Tuesday, said there are plans for a new Club Secretary and Events Business Development Manager at the Halo Aerospace Stadium.

Mr Dewsnip also gave an update on upgrades to the club's match day hospitality and players going out on loan.

On the staffing front, he said: "We expect to have a new Club Secretary in post by the time that Adele Laffan leaves us at the end of the month; recruitment is well under way to appoint an Events Business Development Manager following a very healthy level of interest in the role; and Colette Davies was appointed as Customer Services Executive at the start of this month, a role which now includes the club shop, ticketing and reception.

"In the past four months, we have also successfully appointed Shahzad Saleem as our new Head Chef, recruited an assistant chef, appointed Prabhjot Singh as Events and Hospitality Operations Manager and Vanshdeep Singh as Finance Assistant, who are all settling well into their new roles."

Mr Dewsnip's arrival as COO in February 2026 has been one of several changes in key roles at the club, since owners Panjab Warriors took over in summer 2025.

Discussing on-pitch matters, he said: "We were pleased that (manager) Adam (Lakeland) has been able to not only welcome back several players from injury but that he has also been able to boost his selection options by bringing in both central defender Luca Davies and centre forward Marcus Neill on loan from Premier League clubs recently.

"As I know Adam has been keen to arrange for some time, this has also enabled us to send some of our younger first team squad members such as Oscar Wright, Alfie Scales and Adam Fairclough out on loan to Northern Premier League clubs for some much needed senior men’s first team minutes.

"This is all part of their planned development, as it is for our second and third year academy players that featured in the first team’s pre-season programme, hence why Corey Goodyear, Harley Illingworth, Elijah Vilchez and Conan Newall have also recently been allowed to go on loan to either Northern Premier League or North West Counties League clubs to gain valuable first team experience."

Mr Dewsnip also spoke about improvements to the club's matchday hospitality, which have included a recent refurbishment of the function room - now renamed the St John's Hospice Lounge.

He said a new menu is being rolled out in the food trailer behind the Halo Terrace this week "with such delicacies as kebab naan rolls, rice bowls, chicken wings and strips, as well as favourites of fish and chips, fries and loaded fries".

Meanwhile fan supporters group the Shrimps Trust has called for improved communication between the club and the trust.

In a statement earlier this week, the trust said there had been "recent challenges in establishing meaningful dialogue with senior figures at the club".

They also said there had been "ongoing attempts to obtain a response to members' questions to the club - something the club has historically worked with us on".

The trust called for an "action plan to address any internal blockers to providing meaningful, transparent and timely communication with the club".

We have contacted Morecambe FC for a response.

Morecambe's win on Tuesday, their sixth consecutive victory at the Halo Aerospace Stadium this season, has moved them up to 10th in the National League North.
