Morecambe beat the weather in South Wales to overcome Merthyr Town 3-1 in National League North.
For the Shrimps, it was their second away win of the campaign and first since August Bank Holiday Monday, and also the first time they had tasted victory this season playing on a 4G surface.

The Shrimps created the first chance inside two minutes. Elliot Newby broke forward and found Joe Garner, whose shot was blocked by Merthyr’s last defender. The hosts responded with an opportunity of their own, but Liam Hogan was equal to it in the air.
Morecambe then produced a fine move down the right, with several players involved, which ended with Matty Daly firing inches over. Their best opening of the half came in the 30th minute when Taelor O’Kane’s effort was cleared off the line.
Two minutes later, a cross from the hosts looped towards goal and rattled the post. Myles Boney was then called into action late in the half, stretching to palm over Sam Pearson’s 20-yard strike.
The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute. Paul Lewis’s work-rate allowed him to win the ball before driving to the byline and squeezing his finish through the legs of Jaimie Cogman.
Cameron Coxe tested Cogman from outside the box after the break. The goalkeeper palmed the ball towards Garner, who was flagged offside.
Merthyr drew level in the 57th minute from a free-kick, with Morecambe appealing for offside. Pearson then looking for a second, broke through on goal, but Boney denied him the chance to put the hosts ahead.

Buckley-Ricketts replaced O’Kane in the 86th minute and made his mark in stoppage time. He slipped inside and smashed the ball home in the 94th minute to complete the scoring.
