A choir will pay homage to stars who have graced the Morecambe Winter Gardens stage as they celebrate 40 years of a Lancaster hospice.
St John’s Hospice Choir presents 'Summer Serenade – A Legacy in Song' at the theatre on Saturday June 27.
The concert will reflect on some of the famous names who have performed on Morecambe stages since the Winter Gardens opened in 1897, such as George Formby, Vera Lynn, the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and The Beatles - who twice appeared at The Floral Hall in the town.
In the year celebrating 100 years since the birth of Eric Morecambe, there will be a tribute to Morecambe and Wise too.
The concert is also one of a series of events in 2026 marking the 40th anniversary of St John’s Hospice, commemorating four decades of providing palliative and end-of-life care to the local community.
Joanna Jeffreys, musical director of St John's Hospice Choir, and deputy musical director Liz Bateman, visited the Beyond Radio studio to talk about the concert.
