New free two-weekend music festival to debut at Lancaster Castle

A new free music festival featuring some of the city's favourites is coming to the spectacular setting of Lancaster Castle.

Along The Watchtower Festival is happening across two weekends on August 8 and 9, and August 15 and 16, with two music stages.

The festival will feature top local artists like Morton Betts, Kiwi, Life in Neon, Molly Warburton, Arcane Hope, The Zoffs, Shelly's Bane, Off the Rails Big Band, The Convulsions, Hellen and the Mellons, Filthy Laugh, Early Darts, Susannah Clegg and many more, as well as out of town bands traveling from as far as Mexico, London and Blackpool.

You can also participate in some interactive workshops suitable for all the family.

The festival runs from noon to 10pm on Saturdays and noon to 6pm on Sundays.

There will also be a second smaller stage hosted by the newly formed Castle Records run by Kristi Michelle, featuring many close to home musicians.

Along the Watchtower Festival is run in partnership between BaccyJ & Folio Productions, Melodrome Mobile Stage, the Duchy of Lancaster, and newly formed Castle Records.

Sponsors include Thomas Consulting, JMP Architects, Gillisons Bag Shop, Atkinsons Coffee, Little Legs Fabrics and Lancaster Sewing Café; and the event was funded by The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund.

Jack Boynton from BaccyJ & Folio Productions completed a cycle coast to coast ride in a full suit of medieval armour to raise a whopping £1300!

Jack cycled 175 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington wearing the full suit, which weighs 37.5kg.

Organisers also said they were grateful to Ash Bestos who ran a fundraiser in June.
