Beyond Radio welcomes Andy Lawson as new Breakfast show host

Beyond Radio is delighted to welcome Andy Lawson as the new host of our Breakfast show.

Andy joins the station to wake up Lancaster and Morecambe Bay, weekdays between 6 and 10am, from Monday, June 2.

Andy is a vastly experienced presenter in the commercial radio sector, working at stations across the North West for more than 25 years, and is no stranger to the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay area.

His career began hosting the Evening Show on Wigan’s Wish FM, and a spell on the Drive show, before moving to the former The Bay in Lancaster, where he quickly became a listener favourite as presenter of the Afternoon Show between 2007 and 2009.

Andy also worked for a number of years at a cluster of stations covering the Greater Manchester and Merseyside area – Tower FM, Wire FM and Wish FM, in addition to a four-year spell presenting Daytimes and then Afternoons on county-wide DAB station, Radio Yorkshire.

He’s also been heard on Stockport’s Imagine FM, Fresh Radio Spain, Like Radio and Central Radio North West.

Away from radio, Andy is also a voice over artist, podcaster, content creator, and dance music DJ.

Andy said: ‘’What a privilege it is to be back on the radio in such a wonderful part of the world.

‘’You and I may have met before; when I was a part of The Bay. Each day we used to get together then, and I’m delighted that we have the chance to do so again.

‘’I remember fondly being a part of this special place filled with incredible people.  So many of us unified by a radio station that was at the heart of everything. You would hear The Bay in shops, and from cars passing on Lancaster’s one way system. 

‘’No matter what was going on in day-to-day life, we all felt to be brought together by the joy of good music and real sense of connection thanks to our local radio station.

‘’Now, it is a real honour for me to be back and we be a part of each other’s lives again. Gone are my days of being on The Bay in the afternoon, now, it’s about early nights and early alarms for me as I begin the Breakfast Show.

‘’With the show I believe it’s you and me starting each other’s day together.  So, I’ll be here from 6am, with my coffee by my side.  I look forward to you joining in when you wake up!’’

This week, Beyond Radio announced a new sound, including a new daytime schedule, and a refreshed evening and weekend programme of specialist music and community shows.
