Carnforth will celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a 'Big Weekend' of events in the town.
Carnforth's Big Weekend will run from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5.
It will include a National Beacon Lighting (June 2); Schools Sports and Fun Day (June 3); Royalty Day and the Big Lunch (June 4) and a Commemorative service and parade (June 5).
Carnforth Town Council has been awarded £8,700 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, to put on the event.
“Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can celebrate the whole of our community for its collaboration, support and kindness throughout the coronavirus pandemic as well as pay tribute to the Queen’s amazing 70 years’ service to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth," said Bob Bailey, clerk and proper officer at Carnforth Town Council.
"We have created a working group and full details will be posted on our dedicated Carnforth Big Weekend Facebook page and Carnforth Town Council’s website as our plans develop."
