Residents in Lancaster have been warned about cold callers who are claiming to be from the council.
Lancaster City Council said they had been informed about cold callers in the Marsh area of Lancaster.
"People are knocking on doors claiming to be from the Council checking for damp," said a statement on the Lancaster City Council Housing Facebook page.
"These people are not working on behalf of the Council.
"Please do not let anyone into your property without the correct Council ID."
