Crews in Hornby were called out to two incidents on Tuesday evening – and ended up rescuing a dog.
They were called firstly to a fire in the open within the Gressingham area just after 4pm, which was found on arrival to be a controlled burning of wooden materials.
Then at 4.30pm, they were sent to a second fire in the open, this time in the Farleton area.
This was found to be another false alarm, but on their way back to the station the crew was ‘fire flashed’ to a dog stuck in a metal wire fence in the Bentham area.
Crews cut back a hedge to gain access to the dog and managed to free the dog, which sustained no major injuries.
The dog was reunited with its owner and the crew returned back to the station.
