A drop-in event will be held about plans for Morecambe to apply to become the first UK Town of Culture.
Residents are invited to Morecambe Library on Monday March 23 to help shape a bid for Morecambe to enter a national competition to find the UK's best cultural town, with £3m going to the winner.
A partnership of local arts, creative and heritage organisations have come together to support the development of the bid.
Organisations representing this partnership, Morecambe Winter Gardens, Deco Publique and More Music, are seeking thoughts and ideas from residents as plans to submit an application to the competition continue.
The partnership said their ambition is to develop a proposal that reflects the energy, diversity and creativity of Morecambe, grounded in local values.
The session runs from 2pm to 4pm.
As exclusively revealed by Beyond Radio last month, talks have been taking place recently in the town - including at Morecambe Town Council meetings - about a possible bid.
Ideas are also being gathered through an online portal which can be found on More Music’s website.
“We have already begun engaging with a wide range of organisations across the area, from education and young people to health and wellbeing, as well as arts, culture and community partners," said Marianne Barraclough, executive director at More Music.
"These early conversations are revealing exciting narratives about Morecambe’s identity, strengths and future potential, alongside a genuine shared commitment to the town and a willingness to contribute to the bid.
"It is encouraging to see the UK Town of Culture 2028 ambition already being shaped by residents, community groups, artists and local organisations.
"This stage is focused on gathering insight, understanding priorities and developing a proposal that genuinely reflects our town’s identity and ambitions.
"By having these open conversations and local input, we are laying the groundwork for a bid rooted in shared purpose.”
UK Town of Culture is a newly launched national government initiative, with the first title set to be awarded for 2028.
Towns across the UK have been invited to enter with an expression of interest before the deadline of March 31.
A shortlist is expected to be announced in the spring, and the winning town will be awarded £3m to deliver a cultural programme in 2028.
The contest will run alongside the existing UK City of Culture, which was won by Bradford in 2025.
The UK Town of Culture was announced by Lisa Nandy, the government's Culture Secretary, in October.
Renowned TV producer Sir Phil Redmond will chair the panel of judges.
A government spokesperson said "the competition is open to small, medium and large towns, with the winner delivering a vibrant cultural programme.
