A free family fun day will celebrate the official reopening of a lab for infant and child development in Lancaster.
The event at Lancaster University's Infant and Child Development Lab will be held on Saturday July 26 from 10am to 4pm.
It will be a packed day of entertainment, interactive activities, and discovery for children and grown-ups alike.
From music making and craft stations to interactive science games and sensory play, the Fun Day is designed to both entertain and educate.
Families can get hands-on with some of the same tools and toys used in the Lab’s world-leading research on how children learn, think, and grow.
The Infant and Child Development Lab, formerly known as ‘Lancaster University Babylab’, is internationally recognised for its work in child psychology and development.
The new name reflects the lab’s broader research focus, encompassing development from birth through early childhood.
Visitors will have the chance to tour the lab, speak with researchers, and even find out how their family can get involved in future studies.
Dr Abi Fiske, Lecturer in Neuroscience, said: "We can’t wait to show you the exciting ways we work with children and their families to solve important scientific questions.
"Whether it’s understanding how children experience the world through VR goggles or measuring children’s brain activity as they wander around our classroom, there is so much fun to be had!
"With prizes to be won, bouncy castles to be jumped on and dinosaurs needing names, there’s lots of ways you and your children can enjoy the day! We are so excited to welcome you to our Family Fun Day!”
Light refreshments will be available on site, and all activities are free.
Free parking is also available on campus; the closest location is on George Fox Avenue.
You will need to enter campus via the main entrance on the A6 as the south campus entrance will be shut on the day. Bus services are also available. The lab is in the Whewell Building on campus.
