Lancaster workshop to tackle the issue of drink and needle spiking

'Sip Safer' will be held at Lancaster University on Wednesday

A powerful and eye-opening event in Lancaster will tackle the issue of drink and needle spiking.

Lancaster University students are invited to 'Sip Safer' - an immersive 60-minute workshop with silent disco-style headphones, light displays, and real-life stories that help students understand spiking.

It will help participants understand what spiking really is – including methods beyond drink tampering - the emotional and legal impact on both victims and perpetrators, how to spot, prevent, and respond to spiking, and why it’s crucial to talk about it openly and without shame.

'Sip Safer' is being held by the Lancashire Violence Network and Lancashire Police, at the Minor Hall, Bailrigg, Lancaster, on Wednesday November 5.

After the session, students can visit support stalls from Lancashire Victim Services, ED Navigators, and Lancashire Police.

It is free and open to all Lancaster University students who can sign up HERE.

Needle spiking (also called injection spiking) is where people have reported themselves subjected to surreptitious injection of unidentified sedative drugs, usually in a crowded environment such as the dancefloor of a nightclub.
