Morecambe’s lifeboat crew are asking people to park responsibly after issues during a call out over the weekend.
The RNLI volunteers were called by the Coastguard on Saturday lunchtime to assist with a search, following a report that two people were stranded on a sandbank near Humphrey Head and required immediate assistance.
On the way to the scene, the crew were notified that the individuals had self-rescued and were no longer in danger, prompting the operation to be stood down.
During this incident, the slipway at the lifeboat station was heavily blocked by parked vehicles, which had to be cleared so the rescue could launch.
A spokesperson for Morecambe Lifeboat said: ‘’We kindly ask everyone to ensure the slipway remains clear at all times to allow a swift response in emergencies.
‘’A big thank you to everyone who helped clear the slipway and supported this rescue, demonstrating excellent teamwork and community cooperation.’’
