A struggling animal rescue charity in Lancaster has launched a 'Big Build' fundraiser for its new state-of-the-art kennel and cattery.
Animal Care announced last month that its future was under threat due to the cost of living crisis.
Now the animal shelter on Blea Tarn Road is asking for help to finish its new commercial boarding kennel and cattery, to help safeguard its future.
Animal Care started the build after receiving planning permission, but have run out of funds to continue.
Formed in 1978, Animal Care takes in unwanted and abandoned animals from all over the North West and looks after them until they can find them new homes.
The animal shelter on Blea Tarn Road, which is entirely self-funded, looks after around 800 dogs, cats, rabbits and more each year.

"At the start of February we informed every one of the sad news that Animal Care is struggling with the cost of living crisis," said a post on the Animal Care Facebook page.
"We were flooded with support and we truly appreciate every donation made since then.
"We are still looking to the public to help us with these regular giving donations but we also want to safe guard the charities future.
"So we want to introduce the charity’s future vision and the new fundraising campaign ‘Animal Care’s BIG build’!
"For nearly 50 years, Animal Care has been a safety net for vulnerable animals. However, relying solely on donations is a constant struggle. To ensure we are here for the next 50 years, we need to stop just 'surviving' and start 'sustaining'.
"We have secured planning permission to build a state-of-the-art, commercial boarding kennel and cattery. We have started this build but run out of funds to continue it so we are looking for help to finish it.
"This is more than just a building; it is a social enterprise. 100 per cent of the profits from members of the public boarding their pets with us will be funnelled directly back into our rescue work.
"We also want this facility to start a new programme for caring for people’s animals short term while they are in hospital or seeking medical treatment, which is much needed in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
"The Goal: A self-funding sanctuary where every holidaying pet pays for a rescue animal’s stay.
"The Impact: Once operational, this facility will cover 50 per cent of our annual rescue costs, forever.
"We are looking for businesses and sponsors to help us bridge the final amount needed to complete construction. In return for your investment, we offer permanent recognition within the new facility and social media coverage.
"Let’s save Animal Care!"

Last month, Animal Care posted:
"We’re sorry to have to write this post, but due to on-going financial challenges, Animal Care is in a very serious financial situation. This means we urgently need to secure regular donations and sponsorship to protect the future of our charity.
"For nearly 50 years, Animal Care has been a dedicated part of our community. We are proud to have an incredible and loyal community around us, along with a fantastic team of committed staff. Together, we have helped thousands of animals find safety, care and loving homes. However, the past few years have been incredibly difficult, and now we need your help to survive.
"We rely entirely on donations, fundraising and the generosity of our supporters. Without regular giving, we simply cannot continue our work!
"If everyone who follows us on social media donated just £2 a month, we would not only survive — we would thrive again. A small amount each month truly adds up and gives us the stability we desperately need."
Earlier this month, Beyond Radio visited Animal Care to highlight the work of this vital charity.
