The branch of the Nationwide Building Society in Morecambe will remain open until at least 20230, it has been announced.
The company say they will continue to keep every one of its 696 Nationwide and Virgin Money branches open until at least 2030, despite many other banks closing theirs.
Nationwide had already committed to remaining open until 2028, and after the branch of Halifax in the Arndale shopping centre closed last month, the Nationwide branch on Euston Road is the only bank/building society left in the town centre.
Dame Debbie Crosbie DBE, Group Chief Executive at Nationwide, said: “Our customers can be confident that they can bank with us whichever way they choose.
‘’Branches are important to our customers, to communities, and to the health of our High Streets. That’s why Nationwide will continue to keep branches open in addition to our investment in online and telephone channels.”
Last week, a new banking hub opened its doors in Morecambe town centre.
The hub is now open at 10 Royalty Mall at the Arndale, Morecambe Bay.
Run by Cash Access UK, the banking centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Banking hubs offer a shared banking space and a counter service where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions.
The hubs also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated banking issues.
