Lancaster City Museum has announced a temporary partial closure for work on its staircase.
The upstairs galleries at the Market Square museum are shut until Monday March 9, effective from yesterday (February 23).
The shop and ground floor exhibitions will be open with free admission during this time, Lancaster City Museums has announced.
Visitors who live outside of the LA1-LA6 postcodes are usually charged £5 to enter.
A spokesperson said the partial closure was to "allow for a full renovation of our staircase and preparations for changing displays of artworks from our collection in the future".
The City Museum is open from 10.30am to 4pm, Friday to Tuesday.
