Plans have been revealed for a new micropub and cafe in a former care company office in Morecambe.
The new micropub and cafe would be on the corner of Lancaster Road and Whitby Road, close to the One Stop supermarket.
The offices are currently vacant but were previously used by a care company.
A planning application has been made to Lancaster City Council for change of use from an office to a mixed use of a cafe and drinking establishment, with construction of steps and an access ramp to the front.
The opening hours are proposed to be seven days a week from 8.30am to 10pm.
The applicant intends to create one full-time and three part-time jobs.
An analysis report on the Lancaster City Council website says: "The focus of the business is intended to be for the local community on a small friendly basis with specific localised function.
"The area is well served by public transport and easily accessible for local residents by foot.
"It is thought that the provision of the facility will have a positive impact on the area providing a small social space for the local community."
A response from the Environmental Health Service says: "the potential for noise nuisance exists unless controlled" and "it is important that drinking outside the building is restricted to minimise noise impact on local residents".
Micropubs are usually small pubs that do not play background music. They promote conversation and sell cask ales.
There are several micropubs in our local area, including the Little Bare in Bare and The Crossing at Hest Bank.
