Vital improvements have been revealed at popular woods in Lancaster which were saved from development.
New upgrades have been unveiled at Freemans Wood including nature and history boards, a cycle rack, levelled paving on an accessible path, and plantings of four rare native Black Poplar trees.
Freemans Wood is a public green space located off New Quay Road in the Marsh area of Lancaster.
It was designated as a Town Green in 2020 after a long legal battle to protect it from development.
The land was purchased by the Friends of Freeman's Wood Charitable Incorporated Organisation in April 2023 with the support of the public.
The new information boards detail local nature and the site's rich history.
"The Freeman's Wood improvements and information boards are brilliant; the boards told me so much about these woods I didn't know," said one resident.
"Talking to volunteers, there is still so much more we can do to make the woods even better for nature and local residents".

They run on the last Sunday of every month from 10am to noon. The trustees of the wood are looking for extra hands to help implement their new management plan and improve the woodland.
