Multiple fire resources were called to the scene of a suspected fire at a commercial property in Heysham yesterday.
They were alerted just before midday on Wednesday (March 25), with six fire engines from Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth, Preesall, Hornby and Fulwood, and one command unit and supporting appliance from Blackburn, attended an incident off Princess Alexandra Way.
It was discovered that the incident was a faulty light fitting in the property causing a smell of smoke.
The site was investigated and made safe by fire and rescue personnel and specialist on‑site teams.
The fire service was on the scene for approximately four and a half hours.
Meanwhile three crews were called to deal with a commercial building fire in Morecambe last night.
They attended an address on Marine Road East after a call just after 8:45pm.
Three fire engines from Morecambe, Lancaster and Bolton‑le‑Sands attended, and crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the fire and clear the smoke.
Crews were detained for fifty‑five minutes.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service haven't formally named the commercial businesses affected at either incident.
