A woman in her 90s has died after a road traffic collision on the Promenade in Morecambe.
Police said they were called to Marine Road East at the junction with Princes Crescent at 4.30pm on Friday March 27.
This followed reports that a silver Volkswagen Polo had left the road, colliding with a large planter on the central reservation before striking a lamppost.
The driver was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
She passed away in the early hours of this morning (Saturday March 28).
Detective Sergeant Stuart Hart, of Lancashire Police Roads Policing Unit, said: "A woman has very sadly died following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time.
“We are in the early stages of our investigation and I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance.
"If you have dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us.”
