Former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt were in attendance at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium on Saturday.

The ex-footballers, who played in the dominant United side of the 1990s and 2000s, watched as their Salford City team went down 1-0 to Morecambe in League Two.

Giggs and Butt, along with their former team-mates David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville, have a stake in the ownership of Salford City. Former England midfielder Butt is also the club's chief executive officer.

The former Red Devils were in the Morecambe FC Local Choice Suite before the game where they posed for photos with fans and staff.

Giggs played 672 times for Manchester United in a 24-year career at the club, scoring 114 goals and winning numerous trophies. He also managed the Welsh international side, for whom he won 64 caps as a player.

Butt played 270 times for the all-conquering Old Trafford side and also had playing stints with Newcastle United and Birmingham City. He won 39 caps for England, playing as a regular in the starting line-up in the 2002 World Cup.
