Lancaster City back to winning ways with Fulwood pre-season victory

Lancaster City got back to winning ways after hitting seven against Fulwood Amateurs.

The Dolly Blues' lethal finishing saw the side, led my Lee Marshall and Ryan Winder emerge victorious in a nine goal contest, with a Nic Evangelinos hat-trick leading the way.

The Dolly Blues started well, with James Nolan seeing an early effort saved by the Fulwood goalkeeper. Dylan Moonan also tested the waters, with a low effort from the edge of the area whistling just wide of the bottom corner.

However the early pressure would pay off, with Evangelinos sliding a close range effort into the bottom corner. It was deja vu 15 minutes later, as Evangelinos connected with a cross from Lancaster's left side to poke it into the bottom corner.

However, Fulwood's Spencer Lucas received it 20 yards out before dribbling his way past the Dollies defence and picked out top corner with help from the crossbar. Cameron Graham did well to hold an acrobatic effort from Fulwood's Owen Watkinson as the home side threatened an equaliser.

With the home side gaining ascendancy, attacker Lucas Wane raced onto a ball from Watkinson and bear down on goal. However, a fantastic save from Graham denied him to keep the Lancaster lead intact.

Evangelinos completed his hat-trick on the hour mark after tapping home from a James Bailey cross to smash the floodgates wide open.

Barely two minutes later and Moonan made it four, heading home from a James Nolan corner as the Dollies began to put daylight between the two sides. Another couple of minutes later and Nathan Caine got his first goal of the game after turning a defender before smashing a super shot into the near post, making it three goals inside four minutes for the Dollies.

Evangelinos rattled the crossbar after gaining a yard of space in the area after Lancaster continued to act on their lust for goals.

The Dollies weren't done there though. Nolan picked out the bottom corner from 25 yards to add a sixth, before Caine snatched his brace after running in on goal and placing it past the 'keeper.

The home side notched a late consolation a few minutes later before the referee blew his full time whistle.

The Dollies go again on Tuesday 28th July when we host Fleetwood Town Under 21s at the Giant Axe at 7:30pm.
