Lancaster City prepare for Liversedge trip

Lancaster City will travel to Liversedge on Saturday (January 21) in the hope of getting their first win since November.

The two sides drew 0-0 in their meeting at the Giant Axe back in October.

By the time Saturday comes, both teams will have gone at least two weeks without playing. Lancaster last played on January 7 and Liversedge on January 2. Their recent games have all been called off due to weather conditions or cup tie clashes.

Liversedge are currently second-from-bottom in the NPL Premier Division, level in points with last-place Belper Town.

However, ‘Sedge’ have played three or four games less than most teams in the league which does put them at a disadvantage in the table currently.

They have a poor home record, having won just one of their eleven league games at the Clayborn Stadium this season. Much like the Dollies, they have had much more fortune on the road, gaining 14 points from a possible 30 away from home.

Lancaster’s last three results have all been 1-1 draws. They currently occupy 16th place in the league.

They will be playing their first game since the departure of midfielder Dale Whitham, who scored four goals for the Dollies this season and had started every league game. He joined fellow NPL Premier Division side Ashton United last weekend.

Liversedge v Lancaster City gets under way at 3pm on Saturday (January 21) at Clayborn Stadium.
