Lancaster City prepare to bid for county cup glory

Lancaster City will be looking to secure silverware as the Dolly Blues face Padiham in the final of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy.

A bumper following is expected for Wednesday evening’s final, which is being played at the County Ground in Leyland, and kicks off at 7:30pm.

The Dolly Blues made it through to the showpiece final following a 3-0 victory over Clitheroe in the semi finals, and earlier round victories over Wythenshaw and Ashton Athletic.

Padiham – who play in the North West Counties League, two steps below Lancaster - sit 4th in their league on 91 points, and overcome Fulwood Amateurs in their semi final

Lancaster City go into the final following an unbeaten Easter Weekend, which leaves Jimmy Marshall’s men just a point from a play off place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division with two games to play.

Ahead of Wednesday’s Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy Final at Leyland, Jimmy and the team would like to place on record their sincere thanks for your magnificent support throughout the season. Your backing has made a real difference to the players and staff, and it has not gone unnoticed.

In a statement to supporters, a spokesperson for the club said: ‘’We hope you can join us once again on Wednesday and cheer the team on with the same enthusiasm, passion, and commitment that you have shown all year.

‘’To help ensure that the occasion is enjoyable and memorable for the right reasons, we kindly ask all supporters to back the team in a responsible and respectful manner.

‘’Please do not enter the pitch at any point before, during, or after the final whistle, and do not bring any pyrotechnics or smoke flares to the game.

‘’The club has been formally advised that any such incidents may result in an FA charge being issued. We therefore ask for your full cooperation in helping us avoid any situations that could detract from what should be a fantastic occasion for everyone involved.’’

Jimmy Marshall added: "Hopefully we’ll be celebrating a great win together. Your support truly means so much to the players and staff, and we’re looking forward to making it a really special occasion for everyone.

‘’Let’s keep the atmosphere positive and respectful so it’s something we can all be proud of."
